Tachographs: installation, calibration and repair

HEK bv is an RDW-approved tachograph workshop and an official VDO partner. We install and calibrate tachographs, and we also repair older analogue units.

What we do

  • Installation of digital smart tachographs in trucks, buses and commercial vehicles.
  • Calibration: the statutory two-yearly inspection of your tachograph.
  • Repair of tachographs and tachograph installations, including units that have failed or show a fault.
  • Exchange units for most types of tachograph, so your vehicle is back on the road quickly.

Repair

Kienzle 1311, 1314, 1318 and 1324 and Motometer EGK100. We no longer calibrate the 1311, 1314 and EGK100, but we still repair them.

Smart tachograph

New vehicles that require a tachograph are fitted with a second-generation smart tachograph. Among other things, it records border crossings and can be read remotely by enforcement officers. We advise you on replacement and install the right unit.

New since 1 July 2026: vans over 2,500 kg that carry goods internationally also need a tachograph. Read who needs a tachograph.

Good to know

How often does a tachograph need to be inspected?

A tachograph must be inspected and calibrated by an approved workshop at least once every two years. A new calibration is also needed after a repair, a change of tyre size or a change of registration number.

Do you also repair old analogue tachographs?

Yes. We repair the Kienzle 1311, 1314, 1318 and 1324 and the Motometer EGK100, among others. We also calibrate the 1318 and 1324; the 1311, 1314 and EGK100 we only repair. For most other types we also have exchange units.

Is HEK bv approved for tachograph work?

Yes. HEK bv is a tachograph workshop approved by the RDW, the Dutch vehicle authority, and an official VDO partner.

What is Tachobyte?

Tachobyte is a system for remotely downloading and archiving tachograph data. HEK bv is a Tachobyte dealer.
